Ephraim Wasse is an Ethiopian Israeli artist, photographer, activist, and curator. He was born in Israel in 1986 to Ethiopian parents who immigrated during ״Operation Moses״.
Working across photography, video, and digital media, Wasse’s multidisciplinary practice explores questions of identity, belonging, and heritage. Drawing from his personal experiences growing up in a peripheral community, his work offers sharp social and cultural reflections that center on family life, memory, and Ethiopian heritage.
A significant strand of his practice engages with his personal experience of chest dysmorphia, transforming vulnerability into a powerful artistic language that addresses body image, self perception, and self acceptance.
Wasse’s work has been widely exhibited, and he was a co founder of the Beta collective, an initiative dedicated to empowering Ethiopian Israeli artists. His practice moves between art and activism, creating spaces for dialogue where personal narratives intersect with broader social realities.
